NEW ZEALAND – Ben Evans, the mastermind behind the Instagram account “NZ Lockdown Memes”, is using his witty sense of humour and relatable memes to get New Zealanders through the current lockdown situation.

While his followers have been steadily increasing, especially since the initial lockdown announcement on 17th August, his Instagram page has gotten even more attention after billboards around Auckland started showing his memes instead of the usual advertisements. Evans told NZ Herald that he was “flattered” to be approached by Lumo (a digital outdoor advertising company) about showing the public some of his lockdown memes on billboards.

That being said, Evans – a self-employed personal trainer, is unable to go about his day job with the lockdown in place. Needless to say, it has greatly impacted his income.

Lockdowns are tough on anyone, considering the changes to your daily lifestyle and how it affects your work. Like the rest of the Auckland, Evans is hoping the end of lockdown is near. Until then, he will continue to post memes for people to have a laugh and hopefully make things a tad bit more bearable during these uncertain times. Thank you, Evans!
