It has been confirmed that the 18-year-old will be needing surgery for his ankle injury.
Liverpool remains undefeated this season as they secured a 3-0 win against Leeds United on Sunday. Mohamed Salah scored the first goal of the match, making it his 100th Premier League goal. Fabinho went on to score the second goal and Sadio Mané with the third.
Despite the win, fans are very concerned about an injury that resulted during the match. In the second half, Harley Elliott was tackled by Leeds defender, Pascal Strujik, which resulted in a dislocated ankle. Strujik was sent off the field with a red card while Elliott was stretchered off to receive immediate medical attention.
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa told Sky Sports the following, “I regret dearly that the opponent’s player had to leave the game. I am 100% sure that Pascal [Struijk] did not have a bad intention”.
He added: “These types of (tackle) are totally frequent. I regret dearly that such a young player playing at such a high level has been interrupted.”.
Needless to say, it will take some time before Elliott will be playing again.
In the latest update, Liverpool Football Club has confirmed that Elliott has been discharged from the hospital but will be undergoing a surgery for the ankle injury in the days to come. More details will be shared at a later stage.
