‘5 Answers’ is a simple, no-frills written series where we ask five people one same question and share them with you, the readers. A quick read aimed to spark conversations and share perspectives.

I asked five of my colleagues this question, “What makes you happy?”

Being surrounded by friends and family.” – Zadon

I guess you can say our minds get clearer with age and we are better able to cut through the smoke, doing what we do with actual intent. Back in my youth and because of the personal experiences with finances that I went through, money was basically the priority over everything else. But as I age, I’ve come to realize how mundane and pointless that chase was, much like a dog on its own a tail if you might. Experiences are everything, and leaving the world in a battered, well-used body whilst screaming “I f*cking did it!” seems to top everything else. I’m an adventurer at heart, travelling to off beaten paths, experiencing cultures and learning about new customs make me happy. Even more so when I mention to people the crazy shit I’ve experienced along my journeys. Oh and of course, the presence of my loved ones, especially my grandmother.” – Jordan

Happiness to me is simple, having the freedom to choose what I want to do, when I want to do it without caring about others’ opinions. It’s taking control of the decisions I make, growing and learning – becoming a better version of myself.” – Carmen

There are many things that make me happy. I am blessed with a loving and supportive family, met the love of my life at 17 and I am doing what I love as my profession. As a photographer and videographer, I get to tell stories through photos and videos in my own unique perspective. Most importantly, it is what I’m passionate about. You could say I’ve not worked a single day since I started my career. Ants. Yes that’s right, I am an ant keeper. Think what you may, ants are extremely complex creatures with very social behaviors, I love learning about them. Fun fact, did you know some species of ants make their own medicine when sick? Yes, that’s a thing. Last but not least, my fiancé. It’s an amazing feeling to know that no matter how tiresome a day can be, I will always have something positive to end the day off with. Be it watching Netflix on TV, playing mobile legends or just having a cuddle in bed.” – Brandon

A good dinner, some company, alcohol and a good sleep is what I define as happiness.” – Jun Hong
