Any shorter and it’ll just be an initial.
Kanye West (rapper, producer, fashion designer) had previously requested to have his name changed to Ye – a name he’s been referring to himself as for years. It’s now official.
On October 18, a Los Angeles judge approved the petition Kanye Omari West filed on August 24 to legally change his name to Ye – no middle or last name.
As for why he wanted to change his name to Ye, it was cited as “personal reasons”.
Ye has mentioned before that he’s a christian and that the word “Ye” appears many times in the Bible. It’s a name he feels deeply connected to and one that he has chosen to take on officially. He has four children with Kim Kardashian West and two of them have names Psalm and Saint, which look to be named after his faith.
After filing for a divorce in February this year, Kim Kardashian West has not commented on whether she would be removing “West” from her name or from their children’s names.
