All-you-can-eat steak buffets are a carnivore’s dream. For $35, have a 90 minute feast at Armoury Steak House. Do note that the buffet isn’t available on Friday nights and be sure to make a reservation before heading down as the restaurant can get quite busy.
Prior to the buffet, I had a light lunch in anticipation of the heavy dinner. The moment I stepped into the restaurant, I quickly realised it might have been a little too light. Even with safe distancing, you can tell the place was pretty much at full capacity (indoors). There’s outdoor seating too but it can get really warm. Thankfully, we got the indoor seats.
The moment we were seated, we took a couple of minutes looking through the menu and promptly decided on our first order. Here’s a look at the menu:

It took awhile to get our orders placed because the restaurant was really short-staffed. You could tell they were working hard it’s just there weren’t enough of them to handle the overwhelming number of orders all around. That probably explains why after placing our orders, it took a good 30 minutes before food was served. We ordered a jug (fills four glasses) of root beer and that was served first. Here’s a tip, order more food items on your first order (but choose wisely) because it’s going to be quite the wait. The waitress didn’t ask for the doneness level of our steaks so just in case, remember to state it yourself.
Apart from the fried chicken thigh and chips that were unavailable that night, I tried the rest of the food items. The Ribeye was juicy but still a little tough to cut through. Even so, I preferred it over the striploin. The portion size for the dory is small so you can go ahead and order a few portions if you wanted to but the grilled pork belly and shabu beef are bigger in portion size so I wouldn’t recommend ordering too many. Especially the grilled pork belly, it was under seasoned, overly chewy and had a “frozen food” taste. If you ask me, don’t bother ordering it at all. Frankly, it’s a steak buffet anyway so you don’t really need to bother with the other meats.
That being said, what really surprised me was that the bar platter and sides were done really well. The fries were well seasoned, had a crunchy exterior and a fluffy interior – near perfect. The buns (mantous) were really crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, nice and warm too. Nothing special about the greens, they were just lettuce but they tasted fresh and gave the meal a good balance. Corn was sweet and the fried chicken drumlets tasted just like regular fried chicken drumlets, nothing much to say about it. As for the mashed potato, it’s more on the buttery side but I enjoyed it. Last but not least, the hero of the platter was the chicken satay. I did not expect to like it as much as I did but it sure did leave me pleasantly surprised! It was well marinated, covered in a delicious savoury peanut sauce and oh so juicy. One portion was about four skewers, I recommend ordering three portions at least.
Buffet Rating: 3/5
The buffet did lack some variety but all in all still a nice, affordable place to satisfy your steak cravings. Would I be back just for the steak buffet? Probably not. But if they came up with a “sides buffet” and added in more variety, I would definitely be back – mainly for the chicken satay because it was THAT good. I look forward to coming back and trying their other menu items like the lobster, burgers and pastas. I hope they taste as good as they look.
