‘5 Answers’ is a simple, no-frills written series where we ask five people one same question and share them with you, the readers. A quick read aimed to spark conversations and share perspectives.

I asked 5 people above thirty this question, “If your life had a theme song, what would it be?”

“I’d like to think a possible theme song for my life would be ‘Run this town’ by Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West. It’s got a good message about not giving up even when the odds are against you. I’ll just keep doing me, get out there and aim to achieve what I set out for.” – Randiss Tao

“I’ll be there for you by The Rembrandts. I mean literally the first verse goes, ‘So no one told you life was gonna be this way. Your job’s a joke, you’re broke, your love life’s DOA’. For those who don’t know, DOA stands for dead on arrival. So yeah, pretty much sums up my love life or in this case, lack thereof. I can’t complain though, I’ve got amazing friends who are the family I’ve gotten to choose.” – Huiqi

“BTS ‘So What’. I’ve always been like that, taking on that kind of attitude when it comes to life and people’s expectations or judgments towards me. I’ll do what I do best and that’s being myself, if you don’t like it, so what?” – Rachel

“Simple man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I’ve always been drawn to music from the 70s, there’s just something about it that’s different from music these days. The song has always reminded me to never lose sight of what’s important in life. It’s a classic with an emphasis on simple is peaceful, and I’m a simple man.” – Pat

“Honestly so many to choose from, I’ve never really thought of picking just one. Thinking about it… I would probably go with Eminem’s ‘Not afraid’. I used to be afraid of a lot of things when I was younger. As I grew older, I found courage. It took a lot to have that shift in mindset but I did it. It’s a worthwhile process, one step at a time.” Hock Chuan
