Questions
What year is an SFC car plate?
The SFC series first opened for bidding in August 2003. It was the newest series for 2 months, until SFD in October 2003. So a car with an SFC plate was registered in August 2003 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SFC plate?
No older than 23 years and 3 months (in November 2026), counted from August 2003, when the series first opened for bidding. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SFC carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in August 2003, when the series first opened for bidding, had its first COE run to about August 2013; one registered later, later still. So an SFC car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SFC?
SFD, which first opened for bidding in October 2003, then SFE in November 2003. Before SFC came SFB (July 2003).
What letter does SFC 1234 end in?
SFC 1234 Z. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SFC 1 K, SFC 88 K, SFC 8888 R. Check any SFC plate.
