The COP is the score of the last student posted in the 2025 S1 posting exercise (for Sec 1 in 2026), from MOE’s SchoolFinder. This year’s will move with this year’s cohort and choices, by a point or so, sometimes 2 or 3, and meeting it doesn’t guarantee a place: tie-breakers decide the last ones.

How the PSLE Score is worked out

Each of the four subjects, English, Maths, Science and Mother Tongue, gets an Achievement Level (AL) from 1, the best, to 8, by the child’s own mark, not by how others did. The PSLE Score is the four added up: 4 is the best, and 32 the worst.

ALMark (%)
AL 190 and above
AL 285 to 89
AL 380 to 84
AL 475 to 79
AL 565 to 74
AL 645 to 64
AL 720 to 44
AL 8Under 20

Foundation subjects

A subject taken at Foundation level is graded AL A, B or C, and counts as a Standard AL 6, 7 or 8 in the PSLE Score:

Foundation gradeMark (%)Counts as

B30 to 74AL 7

Posting Groups

Since the Express, Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical) streams went in 2024, every child goes to secondary school through one of three Posting Groups, by PSLE Score. It sets the level most subjects start at in Sec 1: G3 (G for General) is the most demanding, as Express was.

How S1 posting decides

You list six schools in order. MOE posts children by PSLE Score, best first: each goes to the highest of their choices that still has a place in their Posting Group. When two children with the same score want the last place, it goes, in this order, by:

  1. Citizenship: Singapore Citizens, then Permanent Residents, then international students
  2. Choice order: the one who put the school higher on their list
  3. Computerised balloting, when the score, citizenship and choice order are all the same

The 2026 dates (for Sec 1 in 2027)

Rules and dates from MOE, checked on 2 November 2026: PSLE scoring system and its score calculator, what are Posting Groups, how posting works and PSLE score ranges (updated 1 October 2026), and the S1 posting key dates (updated 14 October 2026). Cut-off points from MOE’s SchoolFinder (the 2025 exercise’s, put up in January 2026), schools placed with OneMap. A guide, not MOE’s word: check a school on SchoolFinder before you choose.

Every secondary school’s cut-off points

Each school’s PSLE score range in the last S1 posting exercise, from its first student to its last (the COP), for children without affiliation, and for affiliated children where the school has them (marked Affiliated). A dash: the school doesn’t take children that way. All of it as a CSV.

139 schools’ PSLE score ranges in the 2025 S1 posting exercise: the first and the last student posted (the cut-off point). (D), (M), (P): the last student’s Higher Chinese grade, at a SAP school where it decided the last place. * the school still had places after posting, so its COP counts as 30.

Questions

How is the PSLE Score calculated?

Each of the four subjects gets an Achievement Level from 1 (90 marks and above) to 8 (under 20), and the PSLE Score is the four added up, from 4 (the best) to 32. A Foundation subject’s grade A, B or C counts as AL 6, 7 or 8. For example, AL 2 in English, 1 in Maths, 2 in Science and 3 in Mother Tongue is a PSLE Score of 8.

What PSLE Score is Posting Group 3?

4 to 20, and 21 or 22 if you choose it. 21 and 22 can go through Posting Group 3 or 2, 23 and 24 through Posting Group 2, 25 through 2 or 1, and 26 to 30 through Posting Group 1 if the child has AL 7 or better in both English and Maths.

Should a score of 21 or 22 choose Posting Group 3 or 2?

Either is allowed: you pick one before choosing schools, and it goes for all six choices. In Posting Group 3 the child is among the last in line and starts all subjects at G3; in Posting Group 2 they’re near the front of the line and start most subjects at G2, with any subject at AL 1 to 5 at G3. Look at which schools each one gives you here, and talk it over with the child’s teachers.

What is a cut-off point (COP)?

The PSLE Score of the last student posted to a secondary school in a Posting Group in the previous year’s exercise. SchoolFinder shows it as the end of the school’s PSLE score range. This year’s COP depends on this year’s cohort and choices, so it can move by a point or more.

My child met the COP. Why wasn’t he posted there?

Because the COP is last year’s, and because of tie-breakers. If more children with the same score want a school’s last places, Singapore Citizens go first, then those who put the school higher on their list, and then a computerised ballot. A child right at the COP isn’t sure of a place, so list a few schools with COPs comfortably above the score too.

How does affiliation work for secondary school?

A child from an affiliated primary school gets priority at that secondary school only if it’s the first choice, and they meet any extra criteria the school sets. Better scores still go first among affiliated children, and at least 20% of each Posting Group’s places are kept for children without affiliation, so affiliated COPs are often higher. Pick the primary school above to see the affiliated COP.

Does Higher Chinese help for SAP schools?

Yes, with a PSLE Score of 14 or better. Among children with the same score applying to a SAP school, those with a better Higher Chinese grade (Distinction, then Merit, then Pass) go first, before the tie-breakers. SAP schools only take children who took Chinese at the PSLE, though they don’t need Higher Chinese.

How many secondary schools are there in Singapore?

147 in MOE’s SchoolFinder, of which 139 have cut-off points from S1 posting: 100 government schools, 31 government-aided and 8 independent. 113 of those are co-ed, 15 are girls’ schools and 11 boys’ schools. 16 offer the Integrated Programme (8 of them only IP) and 11 are SAP schools. The other 8 have no cut-off point: NUS High, the School of the Arts, the School of Science and Technology and the Sports School take students through their own admissions, NorthLight and Assumption Pathway directly, and Crest and Spectra, specialised schools for Posting Group 1, directly or in S1 posting.

Which secondary schools had the lowest cut-off points in 2025?

For the IP, a PSLE Score of 6: Hwa Chong Institution and Nanyang Girls’ High (6 with a Merit in Higher Chinese), Methodist Girls’, Raffles Girls’ and Raffles Institution. For Posting Group 3 outside IP, 8: ACS (Independent), Catholic High, CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’, Methodist Girls’, Singapore Chinese Girls’ and St. Joseph’s Institution. Those are for children without affiliation.

When are the 2026 PSLE results and S1 posting?

The PSLE results come out on Tuesday 24 or Wednesday 25 November 2026 (tentative), at 11am. You then have 7 calendar days to submit six school choices on the S1 Portal, and the posting results come out on Friday 18 December 2026 (tentative). MOE’s cut-off points from that exercise go up on SchoolFinder in January.

Are my child’s results sent anywhere?

No. The grades and score are worked out in this page and aren’t sent anywhere, kept or put in its address. If you type a postal code or address to sort schools by distance, only that goes out, to OneMap, the Singapore Land Authority’s map, to find the place. 📍 Near me asks your browser where you are and doesn’t send it anywhere.
