1 more course your aggregate fits, but not its entry requirements: Higher Tamil A1 to B4 or Tamil A1 to B3.

COPs are the net aggregate of the last student posted to each course in the 2026 JAE (for O-levels taken in 2025), from MOE’s SchoolFinder and CourseFinder. This year’s move with this year’s results and choices, and meeting one doesn’t promise a place.

How L1R5, L1R4 and ELR2B2 are worked out

Each O-level grade is worth its number: A1 is 1 point, A2 is 2 and so on to F9, 9. An aggregate adds up the grades of a set of subjects, so the lower, the better. Each school or course in the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) looks at one: L1R5 for junior colleges, L1R4 for Millennia Institute and one of four ELR2B2 types for polytechnic courses. You don’t pick the subjects: the best-scoring ones that fit each slot count, and that’s what this page works out.

Eligibility and bonus points

To go to a JC through the JAE you need an L1R5 gross aggregate of 20 or better; for MI, an L1R4 gross of 20 or better. Both need these grades too:

SubjectGrade needed
English LanguageA1 to C6
Maths or Additional MathsA1 to D7
Mother Tongue (or an MOE-approved language in its place)A1 to D7; Higher Mother Tongue A1 to E8; ‘B’ syllabus Merit or Pass

Missing one of those, you can still be admitted conditionally with a gross aggregate of 15 or better, or 16 to 20 with A1 or A2 in every relevant subject. You then have to retake the subject and pass it by the end of JC1, or move to Year 2 at MI. An “Absent” doesn’t count for this.

For a polytechnic course you need an ELR2B2 net aggregate of 26 or better (Nursing: 28), and the course’s own minimum entry requirements, usually English at C6 or D7, Maths at C6 or D7, and a C6 in one of its relevant subjects. This page checks each course’s.

Bonus points: gross to net

Bonus points come off the gross aggregate to give the net aggregate, the one that’s compared with the cut-off points.

From 2028: the SEC and the PSE

The O-level and N-level are being replaced by the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC), with subjects at G1, G2 or G3 under Full Subject-Based Banding. The first SEC cohort sits it in 2027 and goes to JC, MI, poly or ITE in 2028, through a new Post-Secondary Education Exercise (PSE) instead of the JAE. MOE has set out its admission rules:

Rules from MOE, checked on 2 November 2026: JAE admission to JCs and MI and to polytechnics (both updated 14 September 2026), O-level subjects and categories (updated 12 March 2026), and from 2028, PSE: JC and MI (updated 28 July 2026) and PSE: polytechnic diploma courses (updated 23 June 2026). Cut-off points from MOE’s SchoolFinder and CourseFinder (the 2026 JAE’s, put up in February 2026). A guide, not MOE’s word: check a course there before you choose.

Every JC and MI course’s cut-off points

Each course’s net aggregate range in the 2026 JAE, from its first student to its last (the cut-off point), by L1R5 for the JCs and L1R4 for MI. NUS High, the School of the Arts and the Singapore Sports School aren’t in the JAE. All of it, polys too, as a CSV.

196 polytechnic diploma courses in the 2026 JAE, with the ELR2B2 type each uses and the net aggregate of its first and last student posted. A dash: no range (a new or changed course).

Questions

How is L1R5 calculated?

Add the grade points (A1 is 1, F9 is 9) of English or a Higher Mother Tongue (L1), your best Humanities subject (R1), your best Maths or Science subject (R2), your best Humanities, Maths or Science subject of the rest (R3), and your two best other subjects (R4 and R5). For example, English A2, History B4, Maths A1, Additional Maths A2, Chemistry A2 and Chinese B3 is an L1R5 of 14. Bonus points then come off it for the net aggregate.

What L1R5 do I need to get into a JC?

A gross L1R5 of 20 or better, with English C6 or better and a pass (D7) in Maths and Mother Tongue. That only makes you eligible: each JC’s cut-off point decides who gets in. In the 2026 JAE they went from a net 3 (Hwa Chong and Raffles, Science) to 20 (Yishun Innova Arts, which had places left).

What is the difference between gross and net aggregate?

The gross aggregate is the grades added up. The net aggregate is the gross less your bonus points: up to 2 for your CCA, 2 for English and a Higher Mother Tongue both at C6 or better, 2 for a special programme language and 2 for an affiliated JC, 4 at most, and 2 more for a Language Elective Programme. Eligibility goes by gross; cut-off points and posting go by net. Polys only take off the CCA bonus.

Which JC has the lowest cut-off point?

In the 2026 JAE, Hwa Chong Institution and Raffles Institution: a net L1R5 of 3 for Science and 5 for Arts. Then Eunoia (5 Science, 6 Arts), Nanyang (5 and 7), ACS (Independent) IB (5) and SJI IB (6). The cut-off point is the net aggregate of the last student posted, so it can move a point or two each year.

How many JCs are there in Singapore?

18 junior colleges take students in the JAE, with 37 courses between them and Millennia Institute: Arts and Science at 16 of them, the IB diploma at ACS (Independent) and St. Joseph’s Institution, and Arts, Commerce and Science at MI. NUS High, the School of the Arts and the Singapore Sports School take students only through their own admissions or DSA.

What is ELR2B2?

The aggregate for polytechnic courses: English, two relevant subjects (R1 and R2, from the course type’s two groups) and your two best other subjects (B2), less your CCA bonus. There are four types, A to D, by the relevant subjects: A for humanities and design courses, B for business, C for engineering, IT, science and health (120 of the 196 courses), D for design and the built environment. You need a net 26 or better (Nursing 28) and the course’s entry grades.

Which poly courses have the lowest cut-off points?

In the 2026 JAE, Biomedical Science at Ngee Ann and at Singapore Polytechnic, at a net ELR2B2 of 7. Then Biomedical Science with Analytics at Nanyang, Applied AI & Analytics at Singapore Poly and Medical Biotechnology at Temasek (8). Nursing at Nanyang and Ngee Ann took students up to 28, the most of any course.

Do affiliated JCs give bonus points?

Yes, 2 points, if the JC is your first choice (or your first and second, for both). It counts with the other bonuses towards the 4-point limit. Catholic JC has the most affiliated secondary schools (15), then St Andrew’s (7) and Anglo-Chinese JC (6); Nanyang JC is affiliated to Chung Cheng High and Victoria JC to Victoria School.

Is the O-level ending?

Yes. The last O-levels are in 2026; from 2027, Secondary 4 students sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC). From 2028 they apply through the Post-Secondary Education Exercise: JC by L1R4 of 16 or better, MI by L1R4 of 20 or better, and polys by ELR2B2 of 22 or better, with 3 bonus points at most. This page uses the 2027 JAE’s rules, for O-levels taken in 2026.

Are my grades sent anywhere?

No. Everything is worked out in this page, and your grades aren’t sent anywhere, kept or put in its address.
