Questions
What is National Junior College’s cut-off point?
In the 2026 JAE (for O-levels taken in 2025), National Junior College’s cut-off points were 8 for Arts (27A) and 6 for Science (27S), each a net L1R5 aggregate: your gross L1R5 less your bonus points. The cut-off point is the net aggregate of the last student posted there: the lower, the better.
What L1R5 do I need for National Junior College?
A net L1R5 of 6 or better got a place in Science in 2026, 8 in Arts. To be eligible at all you need a gross L1R5 of 20 or better and the JAE’s grades in English, Maths and Mother Tongue. Bonus points (CCA, English with a Higher Mother Tongue, affiliation) take up to 4 off, plus 2 for its Malay or Tamil Language Elective Programme. Work out your L1R5 to see every JC and course it reaches.
Does National Junior College offer a Language Elective Programme?
Yes: Malay and Tamil. A student posted to it gets 2 more bonus points, on top of the others, and takes the language at A-level. A place in it isn’t guaranteed.
