Which primary schools are within 1 km and 2 km of home? Every one, nearest first, with the borderline ones marked, for P1 registration.
When a primary school has more applicants than places in a phase, MOE admits them in this order, and balloting decides within the first group that doesn’t all fit:
Balloting can happen in any phase from 2A to 2C Supplementary, so distance can decide 2A too, but it matters most in the three in green below, which most families go through.
Phase 130 Jun – 2 Jul · result 8 Jul
For a child with a brother or sister in the school.
Phase 2A9 – 10 Jul · result 17 Jul
For a child whose parent or sibling studied there, whose parent is on its advisory or management committee or works there, or who is in its MOE Kindergarten.
Phase 2B20 – 21 Jul · result 27 Jul
For a child whose parent has volunteered 40 hours at the school, is endorsed by its church or clan, or is an endorsed active grassroots leader (and then only for schools within 2 km of home). 20 places are kept for it.
Phase 2C28 – 30 Jul · result 11 Aug
For any child not yet registered in a school. 40 places are kept for it.
Phase 2C Supplementary17 – 18 Aug · result 27 Aug
For a child still not registered after 2C, at the schools with places left. After that, MOE posts the child to a school with a place.
Each phase opened at 9am and closed at 4.30pm, in 2026. Some schools cap PR children in 2C and 2C Supplementary at about 25% to 30% of their P1 places.
Rules and dates from MOE’s P1 registration pages (registration phases and key dates, how distance affects priority admission, address used for registration, cap on PR intake) and its changes to the P1 Registration Framework (10 September 2026, with the 12 schools in its Annex A), all checked on 2 November 2026. Schools from MOE’s General information of schools on data.gov.sg (updated April 2026), placed with OneMap. MOE moves and merges schools now and then: check a school on SchoolFinder.
Type your postal code above: the page lists every primary school within 1 km, then those between 1 and 2 km, nearest first. For P1 registration, confirm the ones you care about on OneMap’s School Query, which is what MOE goes by, especially any marked borderline.
By the Singapore Land Authority, from the school’s land boundary, not its front gate or address, to the outline of your building, for the address on the registering parent’s NRIC. It’s the shortest straight line between the two, not the walk. A school whose field is next to your block can be within 1 km even when its gate is further.
This page measures between two address points; SLA measures between the school’s boundary and your building’s outline, which are closer together. OneMap’s School Query is the official answer: go by it.
The phase open to every child not yet registered in a primary school, with no connection to the school needed. MOE keeps 40 places for it in each school (60 in most from the 2027 exercise). If more apply than there are places, Singapore Citizens within 1 km go first, then those within 2 km, then the rest, then PRs in the same order, and a ballot decides within the group that doesn’t all fit.
The last phase, for children still without a place after Phase 2C, at the schools that still have places. Distance priority works the same way. A child who doesn’t get a place in it is posted by MOE to a school with places.
Yes, but only after every Singapore Citizen. In an oversubscribed school, all SCs are admitted before any PR, wherever they live: a PR within 1 km comes after an SC more than 2 km away. Some schools also cap PR children in Phases 2C and 2C Supplementary. International students come after every SC and PR: they apply separately, for the places left after Phase 2C Supplementary.
From the 2027 exercise, 12 popular schools in areas with little public housing split their Phase 2C places in half: one track for children living within 2 km, one for children beyond 2 km, with no 1 km priority inside either. Places left in one track go to the other. They’re marked 2C two-track here.
The 2027 exercise, for children born from 2 January 2021 to 1 January 2022 who start P1 in 2028. MOE hasn’t given its dates yet; the 2026 one ran from 30 June to 27 August, so expect it around then. Check moe.gov.sg.
A new home you’ve bought can be used if it’s ready within 2 years of your child starting P1 (its vacant or delivery possession date, not its expected completion) and you undertake to move in. A grandparent’s or a parent’s sibling’s address within 2 km of the school can be used if both parents work full-time, the child is in their care, and MOE approves your declaration before you register: in 2026 that closed before Phase 2C began. The 30-month stay rule applies to both. MOE’s address used for registration page has the details.
What you type goes to OneMap, the Singapore Land Authority’s map, once, to find where it is: nothing else goes with it. It isn’t put in the page’s address, kept or sent anywhere else, and the distances are worked out in this page. 📍 Use my location asks your browser where you are and doesn’t send it anywhere.
