A Single Member Constituency (SMC) elects one MP. A Group Representation Constituency (GRC) elects a team of MPs together, at least one of them from the Malay, Indian or another minority community. In GE2025 there were 18 GRCs of 4 or 5 MPs and 15 SMCs: 97 seats in all.
Parliament’s list of current MPs has 96 elected MPs (one seat in Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC has been empty since July 2026), 2 Non-Constituency MPs and 9 Nominated MPs.
A Non-Constituency Member of Parliament: an opposition candidate who lost but got one of the highest shares of the vote, given a seat so that Parliament has a set number of opposition members. After GE2025, with 10 opposition MPs elected (all from the Workers’ Party), there are 2, both of the Workers’ Party: Eileen Chong Pei Shan and Low Wu Yang Andre, as Parliament names them. They don’t represent a constituency.
It looks after the common property of the HDB estates in its divisions, like lifts, corridors, void decks and the grounds, and collects the monthly service and conservancy charges for it. It’s run by the MPs of its divisions, and the Town Councils (Declaration) Order says which divisions each one covers: Aljunied-Hougang Town Council, for one, covers Aljunied GRC and Hougang SMC. Each division’s town council is under it in the A to Z list, linked to its website. For a broken lift or a choked drain, call your town council.

Go at the time on the MP’s page; it’s best to check with the MP’s office first, as times change around public holidays.
