One Singlish word a day, the same for everybody. Six tries only. Can or not?
An earlier day’s word, from : just for fun, not in your stats. Back to today’s
The word
Guess the day’s Singlish word in six tries. The bar above the board says how long it is: 4 to 7 letters. Each guess must be a word: one of the Singlish words, or an English one. Type it and press Enter. Then the tiles change colour:
Green: the letter is in the word, in that spot.
Yellow: it’s in the word, but somewhere else.
Grey: not in the word at all. A letter you guess twice turns yellow only as many times as the word has it.
After the game you see the word, what it means and how it’s used. A new word comes at midnight, Singapore time.
Yes. Everybody gets the same word on the same day, by Singapore’s date, so you can compare with friends. The word changes at midnight Singapore time, wherever you are. Share copies your coloured squares without the letters, so you won’t spoil it for anyone.
A list of a bit over 200 everyday Singlish and Singapore words, from Hokkien, Malay, Cantonese, Tamil and English: kiasu, shiok, lepak, bojio, makan, tapau, alamak and friends, plus some food and places. Only words of 4 to 7 letters, spelt the way most people write them, with no spaces or hyphens. The order is shuffled, so the list won’t tell you tomorrow’s word.
A guess must be one of the Singlish words or an English word of the same length, so you can’t just try random letters. The English list is a few thousand common words; if a real word is turned away, try another one.
True: paiseh or pai seh, sian or sianz, walao or wah lau. The game picks the way most people write each word, as one word, and the bar above the board gives its length. Another spelling counts as a guess only if it’s also on the list.
In your browser only, in its local storage: your guesses and stats aren’t sent anywhere. Clear your browser data, or play on another phone, and they start again. In a private window they may not be kept at all.
Yes. After today’s game, open “Play an earlier day” for the past two months. Earlier days are just for fun: they don’t count in your stats or streak.
