Will it rain?

Bring umbrella or not? NEA’s 2-hour forecast for your part of Singapore, straight up.

🔔 Get alerts on Telegram

Our Telegram bot, @liddat_bot, tells you when rain is coming to your area (or only thunderstorms), sends the day’s forecast at a time you pick, and warns you when the haze gets unhealthy. Up to three areas, and quiet at night. (It does bus alerts too.)

✈️ Get alerts

The bot keeps only your Telegram chat id, your areas and your alert choices (and when it last alerted you, so it doesn’t repeat itself), plus any bus trips you turn alerts on for. Not your name, number or location: send it your location to find your area and it keeps only the area. Send /stop and it deletes everything about you.

How it works

Everything here is NEA’s: the Meteorological Service Singapore’s forecasts and readings, fetched live from data.gov.sg by your browser.

Sources, checked 2 Nov 2026: NEA’s 2-hour, 24-hour and 4-day forecasts, rainfall, PSI and UV index on data.gov.sg; the PSI bands from haze.gov.sg; the UV categories from NEA; the lightning advice from weather.gov.sg. Contains information from data.gov.sg made available under the Singapore Open Data Licence.

Questions

Will it rain today in Singapore?

Pick your area above for NEA’s answer for the next two hours, then the rest of the day for your region. In Singapore the honest answer is often “maybe, in the afternoon”: showers and thunderstorms build up after midday, especially during the monsoon seasons, and can soak one town while the next stays dry.

How accurate is the 2-hour forecast?

It’s NEA’s nowcast: its forecasters’ call from weather radar, satellite pictures and computer models, redone every half hour (and in between when the weather turns), so it’s the best guide there is for the next couple of hours. NEA doesn’t publish a score for it. But it’s for a whole area, and Singapore’s showers are often small and quick, so it can rain on one side of a town and not the other, or a storm can pop up between forecasts. That’s why the page also shows the rain gauges nearest you.

Where does the weather data come from?

From NEA’s Meteorological Service Singapore, through the government’s open data site, data.gov.sg. Your browser fetches it directly; we don’t keep or change it, we just say what it means for your umbrella.

How do I get rain alerts on Telegram?

Tap ✈️ Get alerts above (pick your area first), and Telegram opens our bot, @liddat_bot, with your area filled in: tap Start. Then choose your alerts: rain coming (or thunderstorms only), a morning forecast at your time, haze warnings, and quiet hours at night. Send /stop any time and it deletes everything about you.

What does “thundery showers” mean?

Rain with thunder and lightning. NEA says a forecast of thundery showers means lightning is likely soon, and it usually strikes within about 6 km of a storm, sometimes much further. Get indoors, or into a car; open fields, trees and bus stop roofs aren’t safe.

Is my location sent anywhere?

No. 📍 Nearest area asks your browser where you are only when you tap it, and works out the nearest area in this page. Only the area’s name goes into the page’s address (?area=), so you can share the forecast.
