Questions
What year is an SPN car plate?
The SPN series first opened for bidding in October 2026. It’s the newest series. So a car with an SPN plate was registered in October 2026 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SPN plate?
No older than 1 month (in November 2026), counted from October 2026, when the series first opened for bidding. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SPN car’s COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in October 2026, when the series first opened for bidding, has its first COE running to about October 2036; one registered later, later still. After that it’s deregistered, or its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SPN?
Nothing yet: SPN is the newest series. A new series comes out every month or two, announced in an LTA circular on OneMotoring, in order through the alphabet (the third letter is never I or O).
What letter does SPN 1234 end in?
SPN 1234 Y. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SPN 1 J, SPN 88 J, SPN 8888 P. Check any SPN plate.
