What is Teh kosong?
Tea with evaporated milk and no sugar (most likely: condensed milk can’t be made unsweet), hot, in a cup and saucer. Teh: Tea, strong and brewed through a cloth sock. (no O or C): Condensed milk: thick and sweet, so it’s the sugar too. kosong: No sugar. With condensed milk that can’t be done, so say C or O too.
How do you order Teh kosong?
Say “Teh kosong”: the drink, then the milk (O or C), then how strong, how sweet and hot or cold. Iced, it’s “Teh kosong peng”. To take it away, it’s “Teh kosong tapau”.
What will the uncle give me?
Condensed milk is already sweet, so “teh kosong” makes the uncle ask “C or O?”. Most give you teh-C kosong: evaporated milk, no sugar. Say C or O to be sure.
