Questions
What year is an SBP car plate?
The SBP series came out in December 1990. It was the newest series for 4 months, until SBQ in April 1991. So a car with an SBP plate was registered in December 1990 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SBP plate?
No older than 35 years and 11 months (in November 2026), counted from December 1990, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SBP carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in December 1990, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about December 2000; one registered later, later still. So an SBP car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SBP?
SBQ, which came out in April 1991, then SBR in August 1991. Before SBP came SBN (June 1990).
What letter does SBP 1234 end in?
SBP 1234 C. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SBP 1 P, SBP 88 P, SBP 8888 U. Check any SBP plate.
