Questions
What year is an SGH car plate?
The SGH series first opened for bidding in April 2006. It was the newest series for 1 month, until SGJ in May 2006. So a car with an SGH plate was registered in April 2006 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SGH plate?
No older than 20 years and 7 months (in November 2026), counted from April 2006, when the series first opened for bidding. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SGH carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in April 2006, when the series first opened for bidding, had its first COE run to about April 2016; one registered later, later still. So an SGH car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SGH?
SGJ, which first opened for bidding in May 2006, then SGK in June 2006. Before SGH came SGG (March 2006).
What letter does SGH 1234 end in?
SGH 1234 K. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SGH 1 Y, SGH 88 Y, SGH 8888 C. Check any SGH plate.
