Questions
What year is an SGP car plate?
The SGP series first opened for bidding in October 2006. It was the newest series for 1 month, until SGQ in November 2006. So a car with an SGP plate was registered in October 2006 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SGP plate?
No older than 20 years and 1 month (in November 2026), counted from October 2006, when the series first opened for bidding. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SGP carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in October 2006, when the series first opened for bidding, had its first COE run to about October 2016; one registered later, later still. So an SGP car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SGP?
SGQ, which first opened for bidding in November 2006, then SGR in December 2006. Before SGP came SGN (September 2006).
What letter does SGP 1234 end in?
SGP 1234 T. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SGP 1 E, SGP 88 E, SGP 8888 K. Check any SGP plate.
