Questions
What year is an SJR car plate?
The SJR series first opened for bidding in March 2009. It was the newest series for 2 months, until SJS in May 2009. So a car with an SJR plate was registered in March 2009 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SJR plate?
No older than 17 years and 8 months (in November 2026), counted from March 2009, when the series first opened for bidding. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SJR carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in March 2009, when the series first opened for bidding, had its first COE run to about March 2019; one registered later, later still. So an SJR car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SJR?
SJS, which first opened for bidding in May 2009, then SJT in June 2009. Before SJR came SJQ (February 2009).
What letter does SJR 1234 end in?
SJR 1234 Y. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SJR 1 J, SJR 88 J, SJR 8888 P. Check any SJR plate.
