Questions
What year is an SJU car plate?
The SJU series first opened for bidding in August 2009. It was the newest series for 2 months, until SJV in October 2009. So a car with an SJU plate was registered in August 2009 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SJU plate?
No older than 17 years and 3 months (in November 2026), counted from August 2009, when the series first opened for bidding. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SJU carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in August 2009, when the series first opened for bidding, had its first COE run to about August 2019; one registered later, later still. So an SJU car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SJU?
SJV, which first opened for bidding in October 2009, then SJW in December 2009. Before SJU came SJT (June 2009).
What letter does SJU 1234 end in?
SJU 1234 G. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SJU 1 T, SJU 88 T, SJU 8888 Z. Check any SJU plate.
