Questions
What year is an SBW car plate?
The SBW series came out in December 1992. It was the newest series for 3 months, until SBX in March 1993. So a car with an SBW plate was registered in December 1992 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SBW plate?
No older than 33 years and 11 months (in November 2026), counted from December 1992, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SBW carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in December 1992, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about December 2002; one registered later, later still. So an SBW car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SBW?
SBX, which came out in March 1993, then SBY in June 1993. Before SBW came SBV (August 1992).
What letter does SBW 1234 end in?
SBW 1234 R. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SBW 1 C, SBW 88 C, SBW 8888 H. Check any SBW plate.
