Questions
What year is an SBX car plate?
The SBX series came out in March 1993. It was the newest series for 3 months, until SBY in June 1993. So a car with an SBX plate was registered in March 1993 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SBX plate?
No older than 33 years and 8 months (in November 2026), counted from March 1993, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SBX carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in March 1993, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about March 2003; one registered later, later still. So an SBX car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SBX?
SBY, which came out in June 1993, then SBZ in September 1993. Before SBX came SBW (December 1992).
What letter does SBX 1234 end in?
SBX 1234 K. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SBX 1 Y, SBX 88 Y, SBX 8888 C. Check any SBX plate.
