Questions
What year is an SCN car plate?
The SCN series came out in October 1996. It was the newest series for 5 months, until SCP in March 1997. So a car with an SCN plate was registered in October 1996 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SCN plate?
No older than 30 years and 1 month (in November 2026), counted from October 1996, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SCN carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in October 1996, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about October 2006; one registered later, later still. So an SCN car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SCN?
SCP, which came out in March 1997, then SCQ in August 1997. Before SCN came SCM (May 1996).
What letter does SCN 1234 end in?
SCN 1234 B. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SCN 1 M, SCN 88 M, SCN 8888 T. Check any SCN plate.
