Questions
What year is an SCR car plate?
The SCR series came out in December 1997. It was the newest series for 5 months, until SCU in May 1998. So a car with an SCR plate was registered in December 1997 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SCR plate?
No older than 28 years and 11 months (in November 2026), counted from December 1997, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SCR carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in December 1997, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about December 2007; one registered later, later still. So an SCR car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SCR?
SCU, which came out in May 1998, then SCV in August 1998. Before SCR came SCQ (August 1997).
What letter does SCR 1234 end in?
SCR 1234 E. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SCR 1 S, SCR 88 S, SCR 8888 Y. Check any SCR plate.
