Questions
What year is an SCW car plate?
The SCW series came out in December 1998. It was the newest series for 4 months, until SCX in April 1999. So a car with an SCW plate was registered in December 1998 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SCW plate?
No older than 27 years and 11 months (in November 2026), counted from December 1998, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SCW carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in December 1998, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about December 2008; one registered later, later still. So an SCW car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SCW?
SCX, which came out in April 1999, then SCY in July 1999. Before SCW came SCV (August 1998).
What letter does SCW 1234 end in?
SCW 1234 D. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SCW 1 R, SCW 88 R, SCW 8888 X. Check any SCW plate.
