Questions
What year is an SCY car plate?
The SCY series came out in July 1999. It was the newest series for 3 months, until SCZ in October 1999. So a car with an SCY plate was registered in July 1999 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SCY plate?
No older than 27 years and 4 months (in November 2026), counted from July 1999, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SCY carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in July 1999, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about July 2009; one registered later, later still. So an SCY car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SCY?
SCZ, which came out in October 1999, then SDA in December 1999. Before SCY came SCX (April 1999).
What letter does SCY 1234 end in?
SCY 1234 T. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SCY 1 E, SCY 88 E, SCY 8888 K. Check any SCY plate.
