Questions
What year is an SDM car plate?
The SDM series came out in July 2001. It was the newest series for 2 months, until SDN in September 2001. So a car with an SDM plate was registered in July 2001 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SDM plate?
No older than 25 years and 4 months (in November 2026), counted from July 2001, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SDM carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in July 2001, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about July 2011; one registered later, later still. So an SDM car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SDM?
SDN, which came out in September 2001, then SDP in November 2001. Before SDM came SDL (May 2001).
What letter does SDM 1234 end in?
SDM 1234 U. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SDM 1 G, SDM 88 G, SDM 8888 L. Check any SDM plate.
