Questions
What year is an SDN car plate?
The SDN series came out in September 2001. It was the newest series for 2 months, until SDP in November 2001. So a car with an SDN plate was registered in September 2001 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SDN plate?
No older than 25 years and 2 months (in November 2026), counted from September 2001, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SDN carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in September 2001, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about September 2011; one registered later, later still. So an SDN car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SDN?
SDP, which came out in November 2001, then SDQ in December 2001. Before SDN came SDM (July 2001).
What letter does SDN 1234 end in?
SDN 1234 P. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SDN 1 B, SDN 88 B, SDN 8888 G. Check any SDN plate.
