Questions
What year is an SDK car plate?
The SDK series came out in April 2001. It was the newest series for 1 month, until SDL in May 2001. So a car with an SDK plate was registered in April 2001 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SDK plate?
No older than 25 years and 7 months (in November 2026), counted from April 2001, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SDK carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in April 2001, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about April 2011; one registered later, later still. So an SDK car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SDK?
SDL, which came out in May 2001, then SDM in July 2001. Before SDK came SDJ (February 2001).
What letter does SDK 1234 end in?
SDK 1234 E. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SDK 1 S, SDK 88 S, SDK 8888 Y. Check any SDK plate.
