Questions
What year is an SDL car plate?
The SDL series came out in May 2001. It was the newest series for 2 months, until SDM in July 2001. So a car with an SDL plate was registered in May 2001 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SDL plate?
No older than 25 years and 6 months (in November 2026), counted from May 2001, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SDL carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in May 2001, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about May 2011; one registered later, later still. So an SDL car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SDL?
SDM, which came out in July 2001, then SDN in September 2001. Before SDL came SDK (April 2001).
What letter does SDL 1234 end in?
SDL 1234 A. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SDL 1 L, SDL 88 L, SDL 8888 S. Check any SDL plate.
