Questions
What year is an SCG car plate?
The SCG series came out in September 1994. It was the newest series for 4 months, until SCH in January 1995. So a car with an SCG plate was registered in September 1994 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SCG plate?
No older than 32 years and 2 months (in November 2026), counted from September 1994, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SCG carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in September 1994, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about September 2004; one registered later, later still. So an SCG car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SCG?
SCH, which came out in January 1995, then SCJ in May 1995. Before SCG came SCF (June 1994).
What letter does SCG 1234 end in?
SCG 1234 M. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SCG 1 A, SCG 88 A, SCG 8888 E. Check any SCG plate.
