Questions
What year is an SCH car plate?
The SCH series came out in January 1995. It was the newest series for 4 months, until SCJ in May 1995. So a car with an SCH plate was registered in January 1995 or later: a number can be bid for after its series opens, or kept from an older car, so the car can be newer than its plate, never older.
How old is a car with an SCH plate?
No older than 31 years and 10 months (in November 2026), counted from January 1995, when the series came out. It can be younger: the plate only says when the number came out.
When does an SCH carโs COE end?
A COE lasts 10 years from registration, so a car registered in January 1995, when the series came out, had its first COE run to about January 2005; one registered later, later still. So an SCH car still on the road has had its COE renewed for 5 or 10 more years at the Prevailing Quota Premium: see the latest COE prices and PQP, and the PARF and COE rebates for scrapping it.
What comes after SCH?
SCJ, which came out in May 1995, then SCK in September 1995. Before SCH came SCG (September 1994).
What letter does SCH 1234 end in?
SCH 1234 H. The last letter is a checksum worked out from the prefix and the number: SCH 1 U, SCH 88 U, SCH 8888 A. Check any SCH plate.
